Shankar Wept For 'Adi Shankaracharya' Song

Music has the power to strike a chord with the feelings of many people so one can imagine the turbulence a singer must be going through when he/she sings it. This was an experience even the highly talented Shankar Mahadevan went through recently when he was rendering his voice for a song.

This was for a divine number in the new movie ‘Adi Shankaracharya’. The music is composed by Nag Srivatsa and the lyrics are penned by Veda Vyas for the song. It is heard that after singing the song, Shankar Mahadevan broke into tears and was unable to stop his emotions.

He reportedly said “This is a great song and it is a once in lifetime opportunity that any singer gets to contribute his/her part and make it special.” Sources say Shankar was so moved after the rendition that he has not taken any remuneration for this track.
