As such, there are many Sanskrit songs in cinema circuit, but they are either taken from private albums or devotional albums. But authentic Sanskrit songs written exclusively for situations in cinema can be counted on fingers.
Some of them are 'sangeetha sahitya samalankrute..' in ‘Swathikiranam’ written by C Narayana Reddy, 'Oorvasi gloubha…' in ‘Maharshi’ and the 'Shakti' theme penned by Jonnaviththula, ‘Agni skhalitha…’ in ‘Chatrapathi’ by Shiva Shakti Dutta and ‘Mahapranadeepam…’ in Manjunatha by Vedavyas. These are Sanskrit songs written exclusively for films.
Now, the time has come for one such unique song once again and this time it is happening in the film ‘Veera’. The key highlight is that this number is being rendered by Padma Bhushan S P Balasubramaniam. He sang the song 'Shakti sahitha..yukti mahitha..bheeti rahita..kraanthi Veera....” today.
The song was recorded at the legendary Kodandapani Studio in Chennai. Ramesh Varma is the director of the film while Ganesh Indukuri is the producer. Music director S S Thaman gave a mind-blowing score. Sources say Padma Bhushan SP Balu is giving a vehement treat with this song and this is reportedly his first Sanskrit film song after receiving the coveted Padma Bhushan. The lyrics are written by SiraSri.
