Tensions Surrounding ‘Gabbar Singh’

Whenever a sequel or a remake is happening, it is natural to come up with a comparative analysis and this time, the analysis has become even more gripping. The reason for that is, we are talking about two very powerful stars who rule the roost in their respective fields.
Well, this is Pawan Kalyan and Salman Khan. The reason for bringing them together is the film from Pawan ‘Gabbar Singh’ which happens to be the remake of the Bollywood hit ‘Dabangg’ which had Salman in the lead. Now, the question is – can Pawan match Salman Khan?
This is with respect to the Dabangg characterization and some say that the character has got negative shades and with confused emotions. Can Pawan Kalyan fit into that bill? Salman Khan tortures his docile step brother mercilessly in the film. Sympathy of audiences work on that step brother and his wife while watching Dabangg. But for the characterization of Salman Khan that turned a bit ok. But it will not suit Pawan, say some.
Some critics say that ‘Dabangg’ becoming a hit is an accident and it has got no material to become commercial success at all.
Many of Pawan fans are not so happy on remaking Dabangg with their star as they feel that it wouldn’t work out.
If director attempts to make changes in the script to be in tune with the interest of Pawan fans or sensibilities of target audiences, then he needs to change quite a lot. Then that wouldn’t be Dabangg anyway and will become a new script on a whole. Then why to promote ‘Gabbar Singh’ as the remake of Dabangg. What advantage the film is going to get, is the question mark.
Still, if director Harish Shankar carves something and makes ‘Gabbar Singh’ a hit then he will become real star director.
