'Appalraju' postponed

With ' Jai Bolo Telangana ' (JBT) is hitting the screens on February 4th, several other films that were scheduled for release on the same day landed in a fix. Ram Gopal Varma cleverly took the decision to postpone his KSD Appalraju a nd not to compete with JBT. Appalraju is now postponed to February 10th.

Nizam area is now biggest market for Telugu films and almost half of the collections are coming from this region. So no producer would want to compete with JBT that naturally has clear edge in the area. Moreover, all TV channels in the state would provide extensive coverage to JBT on Feb 4th, so other films won't get attention at all. Considering all these aspects, Appalraju is postponed to Feb 10th, althoughAppalraju is also hottest project.

Directors Facing Problems With Inter Course Girls

The cine industry is like ‘Maya Sabha’ and that tempts many from the outside to jump into it. Notable among them are the girls. Now, it is heard that many girls doing intermediate course are bugging directors in their own way. They are desperate to do some roles and appear on the screen.

It is heard that they are ‘advancing’ towards the directors very aggressively and this is causing a bit of concern. Many young directors are facing problems as they are not sure how to handle these ‘fast’ girls and are trying in all ways to avoid them.

One young director said “right now, it is their hormones speaking and we don’t know when they will feel they are in love or do something else that will make us commit. Moreover, it is not just the interest, there should be talent and maturit

Reel Buzz: Genelia Ferries Away

Celebrities love flaunting their big, swanky cars every chance they get. But there are times when these very stars unexpectedly leave their royal rides and walk to their destination.
Very recently, we saw Genelia D’Souza caught in a mad, unmoving traffic jam enroute to her shooting destination, Madh Island. Genelia did not like the idea of calling up the director to tell her that she was held up by a traffic snarl.
So, she got out of her car and walked over to the nearest ferry station and hopped aboard one without a care in the world. Not only were her co-passengers very excited to have a star amongst their midst, but they were also very overjoyed to know that Genelia was not one prone to diva like tantrums and laughed and joked with them like anybody else. Gen mingled with the crowd as much as she could and then hopped off the ferry when it neared her location.

Tollywood Box-Office: January 2011 Report

PVC: (Parama Ghora Chetta)This Sankranthi has made big bang with big releases and the on the top is Parama Veera Chakra. The film was declared to be a flop on the day of its release itself. Dasari Narayana Rao’s direction and his way of conceiving the scenes marred the movie. Although a commendable story line, Dasari’s capabilities couldn’t match the requirement of contemporary standards of screenplay and dialogue. The movie miserably made worst collections ever recorded in the history of Balakrishna’s filmography. The official report of the collections hasn’t come out but trade circles say that it has collected not more than Rs 1.75 Cr on a whole.
Mirapakai: (Hot Food For Festival)This is the movie that scored better when compared to all other movies released for Sankranthi season. The official collections report was released with figure 25 Cr plus. But there are doubts surrounding that. Some have opined that was bloated up and the actual figure would be lesser than that. On a whole, Harish Shankar got good commendations for his directorial capabilities. Ravi Teja carried the movie well with his energies.
Anaganaga O Dheerudu: (Crown On Skeleton)Graphics have proved excellent but the content proved dud. There is no enticing factor in the movie and that killed on a whole. The graphics on a ‘no content’ movie is like crowing a skeleton. Lakshmi Manchu scored good marks for her performance and rest has gone with the wind. Rs 30 Cr was invested on the film it is hard to get 1/6th back.
Golconda High School: (Recognized by Kids of AP)This movie directed by Indraganti Mohana Krishna is recognized by Kids of Andhra Pradesh. Made on the back drop of necessity of children taking part in sports other than studies, this move has got good intention. But the treatment was dealt seriously lacking necessary humor. Indraganti is known for his humor with Asta Chemma and obviously audience expected that trade mark from him which was missed.
Ala Modalaindi: (Baaga end ayindi)Lady director Nandini Reddy directed the movie and scored good marks. It started well and ended really wonderful. This is the small movie that is getting very good applause, and unanimously it is getting better applause from all segments of audience. The movie is potential of collecting more than Rs 10 Cr as per trade circles.
Wanted: (Unwanted)This is the most Unwanted film of the season, as per the box office collections. Directed by debutante director BVS Ravi, the film failed to grip the attention of audiences due to weak characterizations and lack of depth in narration. The official report is not yet out and on a whole it will not break even for sure, say trade circles.
Vareva: (Went and Gone)This is the film that has come and gone silently without making any noise at box office. This proves to be a wonder. The movie pulled attention of the public prior to the release but at the time of release no publicity was made. Brahmanandam’s son Goutham re-debuted (!) with this film after ‘Pallakilo Pellikoothuru’. It’s the biggest flop of the season.

'Robo' Gossips Came To An End

There have been many gossips surrounding the business done by Rajni Kanth’s ‘Robo’. Some said that it collected Rs 300 and some bluffed stating Rs 500 Cr. There were exaggerating reports stating that the film collected Rs 100 only in Chennai. All this proved to be rubbish finally.

Sun Pictures have released official report on the business done by ‘Robo’/ ‘Endiran’. On a whole, they could make Rs 179 Cr where the cost of production was just Rs 132 Cr. So, the margin was just Rs 47 Cr. So, this is the business done by Sun on a whole on all language versions of the movie.

That way Robo stood as the highest ever grosser in Tamil film history.

Lady Boss's Line For Allu Arjun

Stylish star Allu Arjun has a reputation among girls. His energy levels, his partying and other activities made him notable in the girls circuit. But now, one lady seems to be keen on associating with him but in a professional manner.

Her name is Nandini Reddy, a debutante director. The cine folks are fondly calling her Lady Boss and now, it is heard that she wants to do a cinema with Allu Arjun. After the success of her first film ‘Ala Modalaindhi’, sources say she is not climbing down the tree.

While it is nice to be ambitious, the cine seniors advise that overconfidence is also not healthy. Allu Arjun’s range of films and budgets are miles away and they suggest Nandini that she must mark her steps carefully or her career will be over before it has started.

Secrets Behind Theaters Digitalization

The most happening technology in theatres is the digitalization but then an analysis reveals that Tollywood would have brought about the revolution quite a while ago if it was not for some biggies. Apparently, Qube had tied up with a noted studio but then the studio folks delayed the process deliberately to save their Lab business.

Later, Qube forfeited the contract and got into an agreement with ‘Cinematica’ with which in just 7 months, a total of 200 screens adopted this technology. In no time, the studio which was delaying announced the launch of their own server and with this, the theatres under their network were not allowed to join hands with Qube, UFO or PXD. However, till date not even the studio’s preview theatre has been digitalised. The person responsible for that is reportedly not interested in this new technology as it would affect his lab business.

Here is a look at the loss the TFI had to incur due to this. A total of 1258 films were certified between 2005 – 2009. So, on an average – 1258 * 40 = 50320 prints * 60000 (print cost)= Rs 302 crores. In an year, the industry spends nearly Rs 60 crores on prints and transportation apart from the VAT which is another Rs 10000- Rs 40000. For high budget movies, the cost touches nearly Rs 1 Lakh.

All this can be avoided if an additional 600 digital screens are added apart from the existing 450 + single screens. The Virtual Print Fee (VPF) is Rs 250 per show, Rs 17000 (full run). That way, the producers can work on the VPF instead of spending crores on prints. Even the noted film makers like RGV are adopting this new technology to save costs.

A section of the industry folks are hoping that the main person who has a grip over the theatres consents and allows the digitalization of his network theatres so that the industry can be saved.

Sexy Bollywood Bomb's Love For Balayya

Here mere presence on the screen is enough to tighten the pants of the male audience. As if that is not enough, she comes up with raunchy and steamy appearances that ooze saliva from many mouths. Her name is Neha Dhupia and right now, she has revealed a strong desire.

It is heard that after ‘Parama Veera Chakra’ Neha has developed a rapport with Nandamuri Balakrishna and has fallen for him. While it is not sure what she liked about Balayya but sources say she is getting very desperate about meeting him once again.

Cine folks say maybe Neha wants to do spicy roles in the Nandamuri camp and make her presence felt. As such, she doesn’t have any projects in Bollywood. However, few say that usually Balayyya doesn’t fall for all this. Only time will tell whether it is Neha’s natural sex appeal or Nandamuri Andagaadu’s will power that will win…

'Mirapakaya' Producer's Extras With Ravi Teja

Build-ups and extras are a big part of the cine industry as it is filled with people who bloat with inflated egos. Now, it appears that the same is the case with the producer of the film ‘Mirapakaya’. His name is Ramesh Puppala and his recent statements gave an impression like that.
He was sharing his thoughts with the media about the collections of ‘Mirapakaya’ when he stated that it has touched Rs 25 crores. Those around whispered that it is a blow up figure and inside talk is that the film has not touched that figure exactly. Ramesh then thanked Ravi Teja and added that he wants to do another film with the star.

True to his hyped statement, Ravi Teja gave a jhalak. He said “Last time you gave me some remuneration and since the film has become a hit, this time you give an additional Rs 3 crores for a new project, since you are saying I’m bringing more profits”. Those around said that Ramesh went pale hearing this and gave a sheepish grin. Ramesh understood that Ravi Teja knows the facts of figures.

'Parama Veera Chakra' Piracy In Internet Centres

This might sound like a shock to you but then the major disaster ‘Parama Veera Chakra’ is currently making rounds in the internet parlours. Wondering why? Well, it is noticed that the film is being watched the pirated version of the film in full blast sound without any problem.

Well, the point to notice is no one is caring even if it is pirated and have ignored it completely. The film is in that much pitiable condition. Recently, one of the busiest internet centres in the Lakdi Ka Pul area was spotted with the ‘PVC’ film being seen in one of the systems.

The consolation for director Dasari Narayana Rao is, atleast the film is being watched though in a pirated version. But then, it has clearly shown that at the end of the day, it is not words but stuff in the film that matters to the audience to give it a hit or phat.

'Dongala Mutha'- A Copy From Hollywood Flick

Ram Gopal Varma is usually known for his original ideas though some of them are inspirations from Hollywood. This time, the buzz is about his new movie ‘Dongala Mutha’ and going by what Ramu says, if it gets executed like that then it sure will rewrite the history of film making.
For now, it is heard that ‘Dongala Mutha’ is basically a copy. Most of the film will be happening inside a home and it is heard that the inspiration for that has come from the scary Hollywood thriller ‘Paranormal Activity’ which is directed by Oren Peli.
The mystery is, whether Ramu will induce a horror element in this or cook up a regular thriller like his ‘Kaun’. If it’s a copy of ‘Paranormal Activity’ then what form of nativity elements will be included for the Telugu audience to connect is another question. Some other say that it is going to be an out and out comedy thriller. We have to wait and see what it is actually.

The naming ceremony was held at the actress’ house recently and was attended by family and friends. Earlier, Meena’s mother had told media that they’d choose a name for the baby based on her star and the time of birth.

Photo Feature: Genelia's Ugly Thigh Show

A show girl in show business should know what is appealing in her body. Genelia, who has not so attractive thighs is projecting them in an ugly way to cameras this way. The not so enticing costume marred her sex appeal. One has to remember how sexier she looked wearing saree and projecting her back on the posters of 'Satyam' starred by Sumanth and recently in Sasirekha Parinayam. Genelia is not hot in western outfits and her vital stats will not support them. Better she chooses sarees to look sexier.

Lady Boss Not At All Lifting

Success is something to be felt in the heart and not in the head. But despite knowing this, there are a few in the film circuit who tend to go overboard. One such person who has come into focus is debutante director Nandini Reddy and sources say she is hard to reach after the success of her film ‘Ala Modalaindi’. The biggest advantage for this film is the big films like Parama Veera Chakra and Anaganaga O Dheerudu turned utter flops in Sankranthi season. That advantage is giving scope for this film to score collections up to Rs 10 Cr which is a rare feat done by any small film made with Rs 3 Cr.
Film Nagar folks reveal that Nandini is lifting only calls from media and earlier she used to rush to almost every cine person asking them to act in her film. Now, she seems to be feeling like a star director, this is the feeling many are getting after looking at the new behavior.
Apart from this, Nandini speaks walks and talks like a man even with his male colleagues. She understood that such tom boyish nature only would make a lady director survive in industry.
Nandini hails from the camp of Krishna Vamsi so few cine folks say she seems to have got this nature from her mentor. However, few seniors suggest it is time Nandini works on her PR skills and becomes approachable as there is a long journey for her to prove as a marked director in Tollywood.

Tensions Surrounding ‘Gabbar Singh’

Whenever a sequel or a remake is happening, it is natural to come up with a comparative analysis and this time, the analysis has become even more gripping. The reason for that is, we are talking about two very powerful stars who rule the roost in their respective fields.
Well, this is Pawan Kalyan and Salman Khan. The reason for bringing them together is the film from Pawan ‘Gabbar Singh’ which happens to be the remake of the Bollywood hit ‘Dabangg’ which had Salman in the lead. Now, the question is – can Pawan match Salman Khan?
This is with respect to the Dabangg characterization and some say that the character has got negative shades and with confused emotions. Can Pawan Kalyan fit into that bill? Salman Khan tortures his docile step brother mercilessly in the film. Sympathy of audiences work on that step brother and his wife while watching Dabangg. But for the characterization of Salman Khan that turned a bit ok. But it will not suit Pawan, say some.
Some critics say that ‘Dabangg’ becoming a hit is an accident and it has got no material to become commercial success at all.
Many of Pawan fans are not so happy on remaking Dabangg with their star as they feel that it wouldn’t work out.
If director attempts to make changes in the script to be in tune with the interest of Pawan fans or sensibilities of target audiences, then he needs to change quite a lot. Then that wouldn’t be Dabangg anyway and will become a new script on a whole. Then why to promote ‘Gabbar Singh’ as the remake of Dabangg. What advantage the film is going to get, is the question mark.
Still, if director Harish Shankar carves something and makes ‘Gabbar Singh’ a hit then he will become real star director.

Tollywood's 'Mandu-Maguva' @ Nagarjuna's Grill

Any big city will have its share of beauty mines ie places where some of the hottest girls come and good liquor is served. And even our Hyderabad has got few joints. But one place amongst them all holds the top spot for Mandu (liquor) and Maguva (ladies). This is the N-Grill, owned/partnered by Nagarjuna.
Earlier, the first place belonged to Touch which was also owned by Nag and after running it for a while, he sold it to another noted socialite. Now, the focus is totally on N-grill and it is not just the ambience but also the food and bar menu along with the environment that is beckoning the best of babes.
With this, the party animals, the celebrities and other curious onlookers do their best to be there most of the time and be a part of the fun. Given the approach of Nag, it remains to be seen whether he is going to come up with another joint or continue with this.

Jr NTR In Depression Shock

Jr NTR is in depression, assuming many. The reasons are being quoted with respect to his marriage. The last time that Jr NTR came on to twitter was on Dec 15th 2010. He didn’t appear again on that. He had been active till that time but no one knows why he switched off all of a sudden from then.
Many are assuming that he might be in depression due to some delay in marriage otherwise; there could be no other reason for an active person on social networking portal going into oblivion. Well, Mahesh Babu was off for quite long time and stated that he will be back again since busy with various house shifting activities. But Jr NTR didn’t keep any such message.
As his marriage news is also silent, many are assuming that his silence on twitter might be linked to his marriage delay. It would be nice if Jr NTR gives his explanation on this to clarify his fans.

Top Director’s ‘Dabba’ Business On Twitter

By now, it is more or less understood by many that Ram Gopal Varma is not only a man who knows his craft but is also good at pushing it in the market. True to his skills, he seems to have found an effective way of scooping up resources for his projects and that too with minimum efforts.
Apparently, Ramu has been working on the Twitter network and using it for his business. Usually, he praises the celebs those he wants and traps them. Given his prowess with words and the way he stitches them, the lines are captivating and tends to appeal to the readers and also those about whom it is written.
Meanwhile, his ‘Dabba’ (praising) formula seems to be working out and Lakshmi Manchu is a good example for that who joined as an artiste in his ‘Dongala Mutha’. Some are also saying that maybe Chiranjeevi is also a future target for Ramu given the way the megastar is being pumped through Ramu’s tweets.
