AR Rahman is a household name in India who made every Indian proud with his achievements at International level. For all those enthusiastic literature lovers, Nasreen Munni Kabir brings you the official biography of this great music director capturing his life at different stages. Here is a glimpse on Rahman father's death. The only remembrance for Rahman about his father is that he was lying on hospital bed suffering with stomach pain getting in and out of many hospitals in between 1974 and 76. After undergoing two stomach operations, he was dead on 9th September 1976. While Rahman's mother wanted her husband to believe in spiritual healing but he never did so. In brief, Rahman lost his father with an undiagnosed disease but rumors prevailed that he was dead because of 'Black Magic' done by his rivalries.

Coming to Rahman's first job, his token salary was Rs.50 paid by Malayalam music composer MK Arjunan for operating a record player for a film. Later on Rahman became busy from 1988 working for famous musical duo Raj-Koti from 9AM to 9PM playing keyboard for film music and jingles. In nights Rahman used to parcel all his musical equipment driving to another studio named Picture Productions where he used to work till 4 AM then go to sleep for four hours before attending Raj-Koti next day. Present day youth should draw inspiration from Rahman because his eating time was in between these shifts. That is how Masters like Rahman are made up of.
